West Virginia Farm Retreat

Princeton, West Virginia

This historic property is just 5 minutes from I-77! If you are visiting or passing through southern West Virginia as you travel (the Bluefield/Princeton/Pipestem area), you will enjoy a cozy, relaxing stay at the  Historic Country Cabin Farm Retreat (photos below). A stay in this historic homestead is like staying in a museum and unlike any vacation you will ever experience as it is a step back in time!

Our historic log cabin retreat has an absolutely beautiful setting, situated on a 60-acre farm in the Bluestone Valley, surrounded by beautiful mountains and bordered by the Bluestone River. Five state parks, an ATV trail, and a ski resort are within a 15 to 30 minute drive. World renowned Greenbrier Resort is an easy day trip. Caves, caverns, whitewater, ziplining, and show skiing are found in and around our area. Shawnee Haunted Abandoned Amusement Park is 3 miles away.

Things on the farm remain pretty much the way they were when great grandma lived there in the early 1900's. Guests today have a few more modern conveniences including wifi, landline, tv, and . . . a bathroom, replacing the old outhouse that once stood on the farm.

Your bedroom comes complete with natural air conditioning, made possible by raising the old rolled glass windows and propping them up with a stick.  The freshness of the cool mountain air filling the room brings with it the night sounds of owls and crickets chirping softly in the stillness. Of course, we do have window air conditioning units as well if you prefer!

If a rain should be falling on the old tin roof, you're in for a special treat. There's nothing like listening to the soothing raindrops as you curl up with a good book or nap the entire afternoon..

Guests can go for a walk to the old barn, go fishing in the river, watch deer graze in the pastures, or make conversation around the crackling firepit while roasting marshmallows and taking in the beauty of a clear, starlit night.

Time stands still at this old farm, rusted glimpses of days gone by, inviting guests to visit and remember when life was simpler. Paradise awaits!
