West Virginia Farm Retreat

Welcome to the Farm!

Princeton, West Virginia

Welcome to our historic West Virginia Farm Retreat!
We are near America's NEWEST National Park:
The New River Gorge National Park

Our cozy old cabin is restricted to 2 guests and is a wonderful place to relax, read, and revisit the past! It is not fancy or modern, but has all the necessities and gives our guests the idea of how life might have been in earlier times. The old homestead is filled with many antiques and reminders of days gone by. The scenery is just beautiful in the valley and around the entire area. It takes approximately 5 minutes to reach Interstate 77 from the cabin.

The only visitors you may see during your visit are the deer, a resident squirrel, Cocky the rooster, Lorabell the hen, and Diesel, the old farm dog, looking for his biscuit treat. We will leave some should that happen!

There are many places to visit and things to see and do while in our area. The cabin is located in the countryside amid mountains, lakes and beautiful outdoor scenery. There are 2 churches (Methodist and Baptist), a post office, a school (K-5), and a small convenience store. The farmhouse is near Camp Creek State Forest (this one is within 15 minutes and near the cabin). Pipestem State Park, Bluestone State Park, Pinnacle Rock State Park, outdoor whitewater rafting, ATV riding on the Hatfields and McCoys Trail, exhilarating zipline, caves and caverns, boating and much more are within a 20-30 minute drive! We are minutes from golfing, whitewater rafting, canoeing, fishing, horseback riding, skiing, and huge lake.

Bramwell Historic District (old coal baron mansions) is nearby and Lewisburg
Historic District (Civil War Era) is a nice day trip. You MUST visit the world-renowned Greenbrier Resort as well for that once in a lifetime experience. It is about a 50 minute drive from the cabin. If you are planning a visit to discover America's newest national park, The New River Gorge National Park, make your visit even more memorable with a stay in this beautiful, historic property located just 5 minutes from I-77! If you are visiting or passing through southern West Virginia (the Bluefield/Princeton/Pipestem area), you will enjoy a cozy, relaxing stay at our West Virginia Farm Retreat. A stay in this historic homestead is like staying in a museum and unlike any vacation you will ever experience as it is a step back in time!

SHAWNEE TRAIL PRIMITIVE CAMPSITES

along the Bluestone National Scenic River

Near I-77, this primitive campsite is located on acres of land in a beautiful valley along the Bluestone River at Spanishburg, WV. We offer a teepee experience under the stars, no hookups. You can also bring your own tent, no hookups. Reservations required. Campsites are in the same place where the Shawnee Indians once roamed and lived some 500 years ago. With rich soil, a crystal clear river and a cliff overlook (known as “Indian Lookout” (located on the Farley farm property) this land was perfect to raise a family and survive. This 10.5 mile section of the beautiful Bluestone River has been designated as part of the Bluestone National Scenic River, cutting through an impressive and biologically diverse gorge. Guests are encouraged to bring kayaks for an amazing and beautiful float trip.
